WHAT KIND OF SARS-COV-2 TESTS DOES ULTRAMED PHARMACY PROVIDE?
RT-PCR Testing. Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests on Health Canada Approved Devices. The RT-PCR test is used for the detection of viral fragments from the COVID-19 virus. This test is accepted for international travel by governments all over the world.
Lateral Flow (Rapid Antigen) Testing. Antigen Tests are immunoassays that detect the presence of a specific viral antigen, which can imply current infection. Antigen tests are less sensitive than RT-PCR tests however they can be used to detect the presence of the virus amongst people who have a high viral load (those who are most contagious). Health Canada has approved the use of Antigen tests as a method of screening for the virus. All positive Antigen tests require confirmatory PCR test from an assessment centre other than the pharmacy.
IF I’M SYMPTOMATIC CAN I COME IN FOR A TEST?
If you are symptomatic or have been contacted by public health you do not qualify to use our screening services. You must visit an assessment centre.
CAN I BOOK A TEST OVER THE PHONE?
No, unfortunately we are dealing with very sensitive information and therefore all booking must be done on our booking portal.
CAN I USE YOUR TEST RESULTS FOR TRAVEL PURPOSES?
Yes, our tests are approved for international travel. Just indicate that your test is for travel on our booking site.
CAN I ADD MY PASSPORT TO MY TEST RESULTS?
Yes, any passport can be added to your COVID-19 test results. Please provide any passport you require on your test on our booking site.
IF I AM VACCINATED (SINGLE OR DOUBLE DOSE) WILL IT IMPACT THE RESULT OF MY COVID-19 PCR OR ANTIGEN TEST?
No. A vaccine will not impact the results of a RT-PCR or Antigen test.
HOW DOES ULTRAMED PHARMACY PROVIDE RESULTS?
Through an online portal with our accredited laboratory. Please confirm your email we have on your test during check-in.
HOW DO I CONFIRM I REGISTERED WITH THE RIGHT EMAIL?
Ultramed Pharmacy automatically sends out a confirmation email once a test is booked, normally from bookmyshot. If you did not receive an email confirming your appointment then you have inputted the wrong email or you did not book your test correctly. Please email your pharmacy location to confirm the email or to confirm if you have an appointment booked with us.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I GOT TESTED AS A FAMILY/WORKPLACE AND NOT EVERYONE HAS RECEIVED THEIR RESULTS?
Normally our test results update on the portal the next day between 12pm and 4pm however it is not guaranteed to be available then. If you have not received your results by 5pm the next day, kindly email the pharmacy you took the test at so that we can look into it.
DO YOU TEST CHILDREN?
Yes, we test infants toddlers and children of all ages.
WHAT IF I TEST POSITIVE FOR SARS-COV-2?
Since Ultramed Pharmacy is a screening centre, If your test does come back positive for COVID-19 we send your results to Public Health who may be in touch with you. If you are feeling unwell, we recommend that you contact your family physician or emergency department based on your symptoms.
